I wanted a dj who would make my daughter and her party shine and that’s just what Jojo did. He showed up early and stayed late. He was a hit with the 8 year olds and even the 2 little brothers that came. He brought all of his equipment and did a full set up. Babacar and I have been working on a new production at our Rehearsal Residency in Downtown Brooklyn, which we premiered at the Botanic Garden for “Art in the Garden: Fall Sundays”.
The Garden allowed for enough space to have an audience all around us, spread out throughout the Water Garden section of the park. We set up the drum set near a small pond, and our choreography included our movement around a great tree and moving through the grass. It was a great event on a beautiful day, many thanks to Babacar Top and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

FirstLive has been brewing their own skills and expertise for years, and they just simply do not do anything half-assed, be it their coffees, espressos, drinks, vibes, AND their ultra-high sound engineering skills. I met the owners Danny and Emily a few years back when I lived around the block on DeKalb in Bushwick. I would get amazing coffee and great conversation with them in the mornings, always hoped to work with them somehow in the future, but then I saw the building close for a while, then I moved some blocks down. I figured we’d cross paths again someday…
SO much fun playing, great vibe in the room, excellent gear, but we were not ready for that playback… Minds blown, we stood there like, “holy shit. That’s us…”
Multiple HD video angles, effects, lights, smoke, and the SOUND! We were all so impressed with the finished edit, we couldn’t believe our month of work bloomed into this! The skill and expertise of the FirstLive crew inspired me deeply, and left a beautiful effect on the artists, especially when we have all been missing the magic, they really made us shine.
