Recorded Live & Raw at the Loft in Brooklyn, NYC, windows open to catch that police siren at about 1:10 minutes in. Headphones recommended.
These Performances have been truly enjoyable for each of the musicians involved. This Ensemble has formed very organically out of a shared Love of Playing, and I am grateful to each musician and listener for taking these journeys with us.
FirstLive has been brewing their own skills and expertise for years, and they just simply do not do anything half-assed, be it their coffees, espressos, drinks, vibes, AND their ultra-high sound engineering skills. I met the owners Danny and Emily a few years back when I lived around the block on DeKalb in Bushwick. I would get amazing coffee and great conversation with them in the mornings, always hoped to work with them somehow in the future, but then I saw the building close for a while, then I moved some blocks down. I figured we’d cross paths again someday…
When my old friend RG reached out about putting together a band for a live streaming gig, I was excited to get back into collaborating and returning to physically playing with others again after a long quarantine. RG had also recruited Frankie Rathbone, and introduced me to a new MC friend Navé. After a month of rehearsals, we showed up ready for the event. It was great to see how FirstLive had evolved and grown its space with various new upgrades, ideas and offerings, but to now get to be a part of a project with them made me very grateful to be included.
SO much fun playing, great vibe in the room, excellent gear, but we were not ready for that playback… Minds blown, we stood there like, “holy shit. That’s us…”
Multiple HD video angles, effects, lights, smoke, and the SOUND! We were all so impressed with the finished edit, we couldn’t believe our month of work bloomed into this! The skill and expertise of the FirstLive crew inspired me deeply, and left a beautiful effect on the artists, especially when we have all been missing the magic, they really made us shine.
Thanks to all who came out for our first Brooklyn performance!
Special thanks to Marc Smith, Josh Couvares, and Adam Howard for having me in this ensemble. This band has been a pleasure to play with thus far, and I’m looking forward to many more great performances together. And damn, we sound good! 😉
Marc Smith is an expert songwriter and sound engineer. His originals are all sonically complex and emotionally poetic. Marc’s music draws from reality, and is a beautifully emotional expression. Don’t miss this chance to see it performed by his masterfully selected, extremely talented band. 😁
